The Ukrainian delegation will try to prevent the elimination of imposing sanctions at the request of the Russian Federation at the autumn session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, which takes place in Strasbourg from 8 to 12 October.

This was announced by the Chairman of the Permanent Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada in PACE, the people’s deputy from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction, Volodymyr Aryev, on Facebook.

«PACE: these days will decide whether parliamentarians from all over Europe are ready to voluntarily destroy their capabilities under the influence of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, who is lobbying for the request of the Russian Federation on the lifting of entire sanctions system? Will the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe be left as it was conceived by the founders of the Council of Europe 70 years ago? If the plan of the pro-Russian lobby will work, then it will not be long before the celebration held in Moscow on the destruction of an organization that is called upon to defend democracy, the rule of law and human rights. All that is hostile to the Kremlin,» – wrote Aryev.

The Head of the permanent delegation of Verkhovna Rada to PACE has noted that the Ukrainian delegation will try to resisted this scenario with all its capabilities.
