The Naftogaz of Ukraine stated that the Russian energy company Gazprom, during a round of trilateral negotiations, for the first time allowed the possibility of concluding a contract in line with European rules from January 1, 2020, if they are fully implemented in Ukraine by the end of this year.
“We [Naftogaz] note the interest of the Russian side in constructive negotiations and their higher willingness to accept the modern regulatory framework for gas transportation via the Ukrainian GTS. Thus, for the first time Gazprom accepted a possibility to work in line with European rules from January 1, 2020 if they are fully implemented in Ukraine by the end of this year,” Naftogaz said.
During the meeting, the Ukrainian side presented to the parties Ukraine’s future gas transmission system (TSO) – Gas Transmission Operator of Ukraine, which handed over a draft interaction agreements of adjacent gas transmission systems, as well as a standard transmission agreement to the Russian side.
Naftogaz provided the Russian counterparts with a roadmap for the completion of the TSO unbundling.
“The parties outlined the issues where no common position and agreed to continue negotiations in October,” the statement emphasizes.
