The head of the Naftogaz integrated gas business, Andrii Favorov, at a meeting with the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the Naftogaz of Ukraine will reduce the gas price for the population by 10.4% in July.
“We will reduce the price for the population by 10.4% in July,” the presidential press service quotes Favorov as saying.
He stressed that the price reduction did not contradict the terms of cooperation with the International Monetary Fund, since it is a logical reaction to the situation on the gas market.
The volume of gas on the European gas market has increased due to the offer of Russian and American liquefied fuel, which contributes to lower wholesale prices.
At the same time, the deputy head of the President’s Office, Oleksii Honcharuk, said that an increase in domestic gas production might affect the gas price. He is convinced that the potential for this is, first of all, in stimulation of the use of already obtained mining licenses.
“This direction should be a priority. You also need to make every effort to attract strategic investors to this area. We will create transparent, properly prepared auctions to do this in order for investors to have enough time to submit a quality offer,” Honcharuk said.
