The National Bank of Ukraine has presented the new UAH 20 bill, with an updated design and improved security features. This banknote will be put into circulation on September 25, – said the head of the department of monetary turnover of the NBU Viktor Zayvenko.
According to Zayvenko, at the first stage, the NBU plans to put into circulation 5 million banknotes with new design, for their further distribution among banks.
«This is the third banknote in the new national currency banknotes series, it continues to update the nominal row of banknotes of the previous model, launched by the National Bank in 2014 in order to increase the reliability of the hryvnia,» – Zayvenko said.
Along with this, the National Bank has withdrew from the circulation 749 million worn out banknotes on the amount of UAH 48 billion in 2017.
According to the NBU, most worn out banknotes are banknotes of low denominations from 1 to 20 UAH. In particular, 72 million banknotes denomination of UAH 20. in total amount of UAH 1.5 billion were withdrawn from the circulation.
As «The Journalist» reported, National Bank puts into circulation new coins of UAH 1 and 2, similar in appearance to 1 and 2 kopiikas.
