In Swedish Kingdom, in Stockholm, Nobel Prize in Physics was announced at the ceremony. It is 96-years-old Arthur Ashkin, inventor of optical tweezers.
Gerard Moore and Donna Strickland will receive half the prize for the development of ultrashort light pulses. This is reported in the press release of Nobel Committee.
Recall that last year Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to American scientists who contributed to the experimental confirmation of the existence of gravitational waves – famous physicists Rainer Weiss, Barry Barish and Kip Thorn.
