Germany is ready to ensure Bundeswehr Naval Forces presence in the Black Sea in order to restrain Russia’s aggression and support Ukraine.
According to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, this was discussed during the meeting of Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine for European Integration Anatoliy Petrenko, the Commissioner for Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia of the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs Michael Zilbert and the Parliamentary Secretary of State of the Bundeswehr Thomas Silberhorn.
“The German side assured its readiness to continue supporting Ukraine in de-escalating and deterring Russian armed aggression by ensuring the military presence of the Bundeswehr Navy ships in the Black Sea, to seek for the release of Ukrainian sailors and comprehensive support of reforming the security and defense sectors of Ukraine,” said in a statement.
During the meeting were also discussed the importance of further supporting Ukraine on her path to Euro-Atlantic integration, strengthening her partnership with the Federal Republic of Germany and other members of the Alliance.
