The Nobel committee announced the names of the Nobel Prize winners in Physiology or Medicine, James P. Allison and Tasuku Honjo, for the discovery of immune checkpoint that can stop the development of the immune response of the body to the tumor, and the development of drugs that inhibit checkpoint.

Allison found out that cancer tumors use special molecules called immune checkpoint therapy in order to protect themselves from the human immune system.
