The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Oleksiy Danyliv has said that the NSDC applied to the Cabinet of Ministers with a proposal to resume the work of the sanitary-epidemiological service of Ukraine.
“Frankly speaking, the protection system we would like to have today cannot be tested yet. God forbid (that) there are some challenges, but we are fully prepared to that,” Danyliv said on the air of the 1 + 1 TV channel on February 23.
The NSDC secretary also noted that, the fight against COVID-19 coronavirus requires the provision of medical substances and appropriate medical personnel.
“The National Security and Defense Council appealed to the Cabinet of Ministers not to restore epidemiological service, as some media report, but to start to perform its assigned functions. This is a sanitary and epidemiological service not related to food services inspections. This mostly a struggle against the problems existed in the country today,” Danyliv emphasized.
