European Parliament awarded Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought to Oleh Sentsov

The European Parliament awarded Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought to the Ukrainian director Oleh Sentsov, who is illegally convicted in Russia.

This was announced by the Lithuania MEP Petras Auštrevičius (Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe), Radio Liberty reported.

«Oleh Sentsov has been awarded the 2018 Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought!,» the deputy wrote.

In turn, the German MEP Rebecca Harms (Greens–European Free Alliance) thanked all colleagues from the European Parliament for adoption of this decision.

As The Journalist reported, Sentsov began work on a film script about prison.
