Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) intends to bring to the residents of Donetsk and Luhansk regions 150 bee colonies with 35 individuals each.

Assistance is provided for 50 small farmers from the villages of Volnovakha and Stanitsa Luhanska districts, located within eight kilometers from the contact line.
FAO experts note that 1.5% of Ukrainians are engaged in bee business, due to which the country is the leading producer of honey in Europe.
Some of the beneficiaries of bee colonies from FAO are professional beekeepers, while others will be breeding bees for the first time, the UN News Center report.

Each of the 50 families will receive three bee colonies and a full set of tools for beekeeping: honey, smoke, protective forms and masks, filters and 5 kg of wax. Also, beneficiary farmers will take part in a series of specialized workshops and will receive step-by-step instructions on growing bees and collecting honey.

As the «Journalist» reported in Ukraine, bees are massively killed due to the processing of fields with substandard chemicals
