OSCE calls on Ukrainian authorities for effective probe into brutal assault on journalist Komarov

The representative of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe on Freedom of the Media, Harlem Désir, said that the Ukrainian authorities should effectively investigate into brutal assault on Cherkasy journalist Vadym Komarov.

Desir stated this on the OSCE website.

“I condemn this very violent attack against journalist Vadym Komarov in Cherkasy. This is an attempted murder against a local investigative journalist known for his reporting on corruption,” said Desir.

“This targeted attack is particularly alarming and cannot remain unpunished. The investigation was promptly initiated and I call on the authorities to do their utmost to fully investigate the crime,” said Desir.

Also, the OSCE representative expressed the hope that Komarov will fully recover soon and that he and his colleagues will be protected from violence and intimidation.
