OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President George Tsereteli expressed hope that the Steinmeier formula could contribute to the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
This is stated in a message on the website of the OSCE PA.
To Tsereteli, the latest steps taken by Ukraine and Russia will provide a road map for the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
“The conflict will not be settled by military means,” Tsereteli said.
He also noted that the only way to alleviate human suffering in eastern Ukraine, especially in light of the approaching winter, is a step-by-step approach.
“Despite the need for some additional clarifications, the recent initiatives of German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier may be useful for updating the process for achieving progress in implementing the Minsk agreements. I am glad that last week the members of the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk confirmed a specific text for implementation in Ukrainian legislation, as agreed by the Political Advisers in the Normandy format. We must rely on this momentum,” Tsereteli said.
At the same time, NATO mission in Ukraine supports the withdrawal of troops in Donbas and the confirmation of the “Steinmeier formula” text.
This was stated by the head of the NATO Liaison Office in Ukraine, Alexander Vinnikov, Hromadske reports.
“NATO fully supports the implementation of the Minsk agreements by all parties. We take note of the confirmation in the TCG of the text of the “Steinmeier formula” last week. We support all efforts aimed at reducing tensions and may contribute to the full implementation of the agreements, since this is the only way to a political settlement,” NATO said.
As The Journalist reported, Germany, France welcome breakthrough in Minsk talks and Steinmeier’s formula approval.
