Overall number of coronavirus cases in Ukraine decreasing, but still high in some regions

Overall number of coronavirus cases continues to decrease in Ukraine. Still, an increase in the incidence rate is observed in five regions, to the review of the epidemiological situation over the past week from the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Ukraine.

So, an increase in the incidence is observed in Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Chernivtsi and Vinnytsia regions. The NAS added that the increase in the incidence may be caused by the neglect of quarantine in the resort and ski regions. But there is also a risk that the negative dynamics is caused by new mutations of the virus and favorable weather conditions.

February 1, Ukraine reported 2,394 coronavirus cases. Most infections are in Kyiv city (285), Ivano-Frankivsk (278), Zaporizhzhia (217), Chernivtsi (159) and Kharkiv (158) regions. This was announced by the Minister of Health.

Among the cases are 117 children and 213 health workers.Some 833 people were hospitalized per day, 11,457 recovered.

In total, 31,620 coronavirus tests were carried out in a day. Of these, 16,589 PCR, 15,031 ELISA.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,223,879 people have been infected, 1,035,372 have recovered.
