The President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Liliane Maury Pasquier, said that Ukraine was obliged to invite the Assembly observers to monitor election campaigns.

This is stated in the message on the PACE website.

Maury Pasquier has expressed a regret of the Verkhovna Rada’s decision to withdraw the invitation to the Assembly’s observers to monitor the early parliamentary elections on July 21.

“I have to highlight that Ukraine, as a member of the Council of Europe, is under the monitoring procedure of the Assembly and has the commitments to invite the Assembly to observe presidential and parliamentary elections,” said Maury Pasquier, responding to a letter from the VR Chairman AndriyParubiy.

The PACE President expressed readiness to discuss and improve the relations between the Assembly, Ukrainian parliament and PACE delegation. As reported by The Journalist, VR Committee approved Ukrainian delegation suspension in PACE.
