Parliamentary elections were held in Tajikistan on March 1. More than 75% of voters voted with the required minimum of 50%. This is reported by DW.

Elections to the lower house of the Tajik parliament (Majlisi namoyandagon) are held every 5 years.

“241 people fought for 63 deputy seats: 65 candidates from seven parties on party lists and 176 candidates in single-seat constituencies. The election commission received any complaints or reports of violations during electoral process,” the message says.

It should announce preliminary election results soon.

At the present time, most mandates are held by the People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan, chaired by President Emomali Rahmon.
