The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy, during his work visit to Washington, has urged the American side to assist in modernization of the Ukrainian gas transportation system (GTS) in the context of strengthening the energy security of Europe. This is reported by «Ukrinform».
It is reported that, according to Parubiy, US assistance in modernization of the gas transportation system for the Ukrainian people can be not only question on energy, but also on security.
«When we discussed energy cooperation and prevention of Nord Stream 2, one of the talking points was the Ukrainian gas transportation system and its modernization. I expressed the opinion that it would be important for both Ukraine and the United States, if powerful American energy companies took part in the modernization of the Ukrainian GTS», – Parubiy stressed.
Note that the U.S. House of Representatives Paul Ryan called this stance "important" and promised to contribute in its promotion.
As «The Journalist» reported earlier, Parubiy has signed the law on national security.
