Montenegro, Albania, Norway, Ukraine and Georgia have joined the decision of the Council of the European Union to extend the sanctions, which prohibit European companies from investing in Crimea occupied by Russia and importing goods from the peninsula, until June 23, 2019.
The EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Policy Federica Mogherini said this in a statement, posted on the website of the Council of the European Union.
«On June 18, 2018, the Council of the European Union extended restrictive measures until June 23, 2019,» – Mogherini said in a statement.
«The candidate countries Montenegro and Albania, the country of the European Free Trade Association, Norway, which is a member of the European Economic Area, as well as Ukraine and Georgia, have joined this statement,» – the document says.
These countries should take steps to ensure, that their national policies are in line with the decision of the EU Council on sanctions. The EU took note of the commitments of these countries and welcomed their decision.
