Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz confirmed that Poland continues to oppose completing Nord Stream 2’s construction. At the same time, his German counterpart Heiko Maas criticized yet another sanction over the gas pipeline, Polish Radio reports.
Mr Czaputowicz stated that Poland criticized the implementation of the project from the very beginning, since it “does not guarantee Europe energy security” and creates dependence on Russian Gazprom. He noted that the completion of the Nord Stream 2 construction constitutes a special threat to the Central and Eastern Europe, in particular to Ukraine.
“Therefore, we believe that we should seek to diversify supply and non-fulfillment of this project,” Czaputowicz said.
At the same time, Maas spoke out against tightening U.S. sanctions against Nord Stream 2.
