The head of the Polish Association of Processors, the owner of one of the largest processing companies in Poland (Real SA) Andrzej Gajowniczek said that the Polish harvest is in jeopardy if hundreds of thousands of labor migrants from Ukraine do not come to Poland for seasonal work, Ukrinform reports.

“Poland is a huge food producer, one of the largest in Europe. Let’s say we grow champignons and more in the EU. Therefore, if workers from Ukraine do not come, it will be a disaster. We’ll lost all of what we grow in the fields, because there will be no one to harvest it,” Gajowniczek said.

According to the head of the Association, Poland is in need for “hundreds of thousands” of seasonal workers from Ukraine.

“If the Ukrainians would not be able to come to Poland at the beginning of the strawberry harvesting season due to the COVID-19 pandemic in weeks, this could even lead to protests by Polish farmers,” Gajowniczek is convinced.

Moravecki: Without Ukrainians, Poland’s economic growth would be lower.
