Ukrainian political prisoner, journalist Roman Suschenko, who is illegally imprisoned in Russia, has signed the documents on consent to serve his sentence in Ukraine. This was announced by his lawyer Mark Feygin, Ukrinform reports.

According to Feygin, after discussions regarding the prospects for exchange and release, Sushchenko signed documents on his consent to serve his sentence in Ukraine.

“I can say that in summer Roman signed the documents, given on the initiative of the Russian side, on the consent to serve his sentence in Ukraine,” the statement said.

However, he noted that Ukraine should not expect much from these documents and overrate this fact.

“These papers can stay in folders long enough, waiting for their time. The plans of the Russian side are unknown to us,” he added.

As The Journalist reported, wife and daughter of Ukrainian journalist Sushchenko visited him in Russian colony.
