The Polish government are ready to invest up to $ 2 billion USD in a bilateral project on deployment a US permanent military base in the country, – reports Polish news portal Onet, citing the obtained document.
The report notes that the document, titled «Proposal for a U.S. Permanent Presence in Poland» was developed and sent to the US Congress and several other structures. According to him, the presence of an American army in Poland is necessary and must be increased.
«The permanent presence of the US armored division in Poland is necessary to present an unequivocal challenge and deterrence to Russia’s increasingly emboldened and dangerous posture that threatens Europe», – the message said.
The authors underlined, that the document’s content is an actual proposal, in connection with the US defense doctrine, which «identifies Russian aggression as a main threat to the U.S. and global stability». Also, Poland is one of just five NATO members to spend at least two percent of its GDP on defense.
«With the help of a permanent presence, the US and Poland can create a strong, stable alliance», – said the message.
Also, maps of Poland were added to the document to indicate the «ideal» locations for base, transport hubs and existing military facilities.
As «The Journalist» earlier reported, the US sent 2,000 tanks and military vehicles to Poland.
