The incumbent president, Petro Poroshenko, has signed draft law No.5670-d on ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state language. About this head of state wrote in his Twitter-account.
The President noted that the language law in no way affects any language of national minorities. According to the current head of state, a thorough discussion of the “language law” benefited him.
“By signing the law on the functioning of the Ukrainian language as a state language, we are committing one of the main acts for the preservation of Ukrainian statehood. I emphasize that this law does not affect in any way a single language of national minorities living in Ukraine. I am proud that we managed to do it without pressure or coercion in the last 5 years so that this legislative settlement would not harm anyone,” Poroshenko said.
As The Journalist reported, Parubiy signed the language law.
