President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko announced the reasons for the dismissal of the head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, Ukrinform reports.

“I do not believe, even with all the possible surprises, that Mr. Stepanov said that someone forced him to falsify the elections. And that he resigned due to the fact that he refused to do it – it was not so. Or he didn’t say exactly or let him refute me. If someone says that someone tried to falsify the election, and Mr. Stepanov opposed it, I think it would be quite logical that an honest and decent person will dismissed before the election after any attempts to pressure him and he cannot counteract this,” said Poroshenko.

One of the reasons for the dismissal of the head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, according to the president, was that the Odesa Oblast dropped by eight positions in the rating of oblasts and took third place (from the end).

“There are other issues regarding the efficiency of the use of funds, because Odesa Oblast was in priority of financing, including road construction,” the President added.

Poroshenko noted that the chairman of the regional state administration is a political post, and according to residents of the Odesa Oblast (after they rated current government), he should have been dismissed.

“Odesa Oblast has suffered enough from foreigners, who come to rule there. It was both Palytsya and Saakashvili, it is Stepanov. My principled position is that those who live there will work as governors of the Odesa Oblast, the Oblast where I was born,” the president stressed.

As The Journalist reported, chairman of the Odesa Regional State Administration Stepanov resigns.
