President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Canada’s PM Justin Trudeau discussed preparations to the Third conference on reform in Ukraine, which will be held on July 2-4 in Toronto.
As the presidential press service informs, the head of the Canadian government especially noted that Ukraine has achieved more progress in reforms in the last 5 years than over all previous years of independence.
The interlocutors noted the successful implementation of the bilateral Agreement on a free trade zone, which contributes to the creation of jobs and the growth of the welfare of the citizens of both countries.
Poroshenko particularly noted Canada’s role in strengthening the defense capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as evidenced by the activities of the UNIFIER training mission.
The parties also discussed in detail the development of the situation in Donbas. The President is hopeful that Canada will take a principled position in the issue of increasing the sanctions pressure on Moscow in response to the so-called passport decrees of the Kremlin.
As The Journalist reported, Canada has tightened the rules for accepting refugees.
