Deputy Head of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction, representative of the Ukrainian president in the Verkhovna Rada, Iryna Lutsenko, during the Conciliation Council stated that President Petro Poroshenko advocates the need to provide the legal basis for the inevitability of punishment for illegal enrichment.
“The President of Ukraine stresses on the need to provide a legal basis for the inevitability of punishment for illegal enrichment and overlapping any possibilities for the commission of this crime,” the presidential representative said.
Lutsenko recalled that the President’s bill on liability for illegal enrichment and 12 alternative bills were registered in Parliament.
In turn, First Deputy Chairman of the Parliament, Iryna Herashchenko, noted that after the Parliament had finished considering the draft law on the Ukrainian language, it was necessary to consider returning the article on illegal enrichment to the Criminal Code, as well as the question of canceling e-declaration for public activists.
“I fully share the positions expressed by colleagues on the need to vote on the removal of parliamentary immunity,” added Herashchenko.
As The Journalist reported, 65 criminal cases against illegally enriched officials were closed in Ukraine.
