The President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, said that he is categorically against structural changes organized by the National Postal Service Operator. Changes include the reduction of offices of Ukrposhta in rural areas, as well as the intention to stop providing services for the payment of pensions through the operator’s offices.

The head of state said this on his Facebook page after a meeting with the Minister of Social Policy Andriy Reva, the Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelyan, the General Director of Ukrposhta, Igor Smelyansky and the Head of the Pension Fund of Ukraine Alexei Zarudny.

«I totally agree with contempt of those inhabitants of a countryside, that the statement of Ukrposhta on cutting the number of its offices in the villages and their intention to stop paying pensions is categorically unacceptable!» – said the head of state.

According to Poroshenko, the state enterprises must perform certain social functions.

«I will be glad to support any initiatives, that will increase the efficiency of state enterprises, but I consider it unacceptable when they take the last money out of the pensioner’s pocket,» – Poroshenko stressed.

He called on the Minister of Social Policy, the Minister of Infrastructure, the General Director of Ukrposhta and the Head of the Pension Fund to find a compromise, «another model that will be put into effect by the government’s decision.»
As for now, the system will work in the usual way.

«The Journalist» previously reported, that Postal Service workers in Chernihiv oblast could be faced with dismissal due to launching of mobile post offices in the villages.
