The representative of the Ukrainian president in the Verkhovna Rada, Iryna Lutsenko has stated, that the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko proposed to transfer the St. Andrew’s Church (Kyiv) for permanent use to the Ecumenical Patriarch. She said this at the meeting of the Conciliatory Council of the Leaders of factions and the Chairmen of the parliamentary committees.

«The president supports the desire to receive a tomos as soon as possible and, as a sign of solidarity with this process, he makes a symbolic gesture – in the coming days [in the Verkhovna Rada] a bill will be registered, in which President Poroshenko proposes that St. Andrew Church be passed for permanent use to the Ecumenical Patriarch as a symbolic gesture,» – said Lutsenko the coming days, that St. Andrew once baptized Ukraine.

According to the Presidential rep in Verkhovna Rada, it «will be a symbolic gesture of unity with the Mother of the Churches.»
