The Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations (UN), Volodymyr Yelchenko, said that Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko will require the deployment of peacekeeping forces in Donbas at a meeting of the UN General Assembly.

According to Yelchenko, «the timeframe for the events is planned between September 24 – 27, but this will be confirmed later.» It is noted that Poroshenko will speak at the General Assembly on September 26.

«During the speech, the President will strongly demand for approval of the decision to deploy a peacekeeping mission in Donbas under the United Nations auspices,» – Yelchenko stressed.

Also, during the speech, the President will raise the issue of the blocking by Russia the maritime shipping to Ukrainian ports on Sea of Azov.

«I think the President will necessarily raise the Holodomor issue, as this year [Ukraine] marks 85 years of this tragedy and we will try to prepare and adopt during this session a special declaration of the UN General Assembly dedicated to this event,» – the diplomat said.

Poroshenko will also meet with UN Secretary General António Guterres, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ecuador (the country chairs the UN General Assembly), with the heads of Ukrainian organizations in the US, with leaders of Jewish organizations and business representatives.

As The Journalist reported, Poroshenko’s meeting with Trump during the UN General Assembly is not planned.
