President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko thanked the United States Senate for adopting a resolution recognizing Holodomor 1932-1933, as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
According to the press service of the president, Poroshenko said during the meeting with the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Miroslav Lajcak.
«The US Senate adopted an extremely important" bipartisan "resolution, which recognizes the tragedy of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as the genocide of the Ukrainian people», said the president.
According to the head of state, the adoption of this resolution is another evidence of the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States.
«I am sure that the genocide was organized and carried out by the Soviet regime against the Ukrainian people. Today, this was the proper response of our partners in the United States. This is evidence of strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States, which has greatly strengthened over the past four years», the president emphasized.
