The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a draft law on the extension of the Donbas special status, reports UNIAN.
This draft has already been registered on the website of the Parliament and has been accepted for consideration, however the text of the document has not yet been published. The title of the law make it clear that it is proposed to amend the first article of the previously approved law «on the special order of local self-government in certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.»
Recall that in October 2017 this law was extended for a year. It expires on October 2018.
The document approves the very concept of «special status». It will “become acceptable” for the region after the fulfillment of a number of conditions, in particular, the withdrawal of pro-Russian formations from these territories.
