Poroshenko calls on Erdogan to help release Ukrainian hostages

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during a meeting with the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed the expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation in the energy, aviation and defense spheres.

As reported by the press service of the Head of the State, the meeting was held on June 12, within the framework of Poroshenko’s working visit to Turkey.

Poroshenko thanked Erdogan for his unswerving position in support of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and protection of the rights of the Crimean Tatars.

The President of Ukraine also called on the President of the Republic of Turkey for assistance in the liberation of Ukrainian hostages.

The sides spoke in favor of continuing intensive political dialogue at the highest level. In particular, the organization of a regular meeting within the framework of the Ukrainian-Turkish High-Level Strategic Council, as well as the implementation of the initiative to hold a trilateral summit in the Ukraine-Turkey-Azerbaijan format.

The importance of completing the negotiation process for concluding of an agreement on free trade between Ukraine and Turkey was separately stressed.

As «The Journalist» reported earlier, Ukraine will be able to receive gas from the Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP).
