The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko is convinced that the Russian Federation will make attempts to interfere in the Ukrainian elections next year. He said this in an interview with the German publication «Rheinische Post», Ukrinform news agency reported.
«This is not just groundless fear, I’m absolutely sure that Russia will be involved massively,» – the President said.
According to Petro Poroshenko, the interference will be carried out via propaganda and disinformation activities.
«The war in Donbas takes human lives, but this other war is just as dangerous, because it is aimed at splitting my country,» – the head of state said.
It is noted that during the interview the President expressed his gratitude to German Chancellor Angela Merkel «for creating in Europe an atmosphere of confidence in Ukraine that helps to cope with aggression and carry out reforms.»
As The Journalist reported, Poroshenko passed a document to the UN General Assembly on suspension of Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation with Russia.
