On January 15, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met with Estonian ministers Sven Mikser, Lithuania Linas Linkevičius and Poland Yatsek Chaputovich, the website of the head of state reports.
During the talks, the parties have agreed on need to strengthen the consolidated international pressure on the Russian Federation, demanding the immediate release of captured Ukrainian sailors.
In addition were discussed the existing threats from the Russian Federation and the situation in the Azov and Black Sea. During the meeting, the ministers were informed about the situation in Donbas and the violation by Russia the cease-fire regime, determined by the Minsk agreements.
"Poroshenko thanked the foreign ministers of the countries-allies of Ukraine for active promoting of the issue of introducing a new ‘Azov package’ of EU sanctions against Russia," the report said.
Also, the head of state has expressed hope for increased assistance from the European Commission and EU member states to support Donbas and the Ukrainian Azov region, where Russian aggression continues. In this context, Poroshenko highly appreciated the decision of the EU side to send at the end of January an assessment mission to study the additional socio-economic needs of the region.
As The Journalist reported, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak stated that Ukraine should complete reforming Ministry of Defense in coming year.
