Employees of the General Directorate of the Kyiv Emergency Service reported that the fire in Chernobyl was localized, but the fire originated in two individual sections of an area of about 1.5 hectares. The press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reports this.

Firefighters continue extinguish the fire in the forests of Chernobyl. At the moment, 35 pieces of equipment and 150 people were involved in the elimination of fire. From the beginning of the incident, the aircraft of the Emergency Service dropped 318 tons of water.
It is noted that Radiation background in the cities of Kiev, Chernobyl and on the industrial site of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant falls within norm at the moment. The radiation level in Kyiv is 12 mcR/h (safe indicator is 30 mcR/h).
Recall that on June 5 a fire broke out in the Chornobyl exclusion zone. The cause of the fire was the dry grass ignition. The flames engulfed about 12 hectares of wood.
As «The Journalist» reported earlier, the forest litter and grass continue to burn in the Chernobyl zone.
