Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord of Libya Faiz Al-Saraj strongly rejected the EU plan to establish migrant centers in the country. This is reported by Deutsche Welle.
It is reported that the Head of the Government of Libya does not support the European Union idea to build camps for refugees on the territory of the country. According to him, Libya does not need financial inducements for such centers.
Al-Saraj also noted that refugees who seek to enter Europe are representatives of other from Asia and Africa countries, not just Libya, therefore the state itself is a transit component in the migrants’ route. According to the Prime Minister, the EU should increase pressure on those countries from where the main stream of refugees comes.
In addition, the Head of the Libyan Government called on Europe to develop a global migration policy, and not just expelling unwanted people.
Al-Saraj accented on the joint Libya-EU fight against smugglers. He added, that in order to prevent smugglers activities at the initial stage, Libya needed technical and financial assistance.
The Prime Minister of Libya noticed, that currently in Libya there are hundreds of thousands of illegal migrants. Among them there is a significant number of criminal elements and terrorists, which significantly worsens the criminal situation in the country.
As «The Journalist» reported earlier, number of migrants arriving in the EU decreased in 2018.
