Analog broadcasting will operate until December 31, 2018 in territories bordering Russia, as well as for the National Public Television and Radio Company of Ukraine (NPTRCU) and local television companies that do not have digital licenses.
A corresponding decision was made at a government meeting yesterday, August 29, a member of the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council Valentyn Koval said.
Decision to preserve analogue broadcasting concerns border areas of Chernihiv, Sumy and Kharkiv oblasts.
According to a member of the National Council, the Cabinet also instructed State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection (Gosspetsvyazi) to finalize list of locations for transmitters that will continue analogue broadcasting.
As The Journalist reported 10 Ukrainian TV and radio companies started broadcasting in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.
