President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has appointed Oleksiy Danilov as Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine.
Relevant decree #733/2019 dated October 3 was posted on the presidential website.
“To appoint Danilov Oleksiy Miacheslavovych as Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine,” the document says.
Prior to this, the President dismissed Danilov from the post of the NSDC’s Deputy Secretary by decree #732/2019.
Oleksiy Danilov was born in 1962 in the Chervoniy Promin of the Luhansk Oblast. He graduated from the Luhansk Pedagogical University named after Shevchenko (a teacher of world history), the East Ukrainian National University named after Volodymyr Dal (Master of Management) and the Luhansk Institute of Internal Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (2000) (lawyer).
From May 25, 2006 to November 23, 2007 he was a people’s deputy of the V convocation from the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc.
From July 23, 2019 until his appointment to the post of NSDC Secretary, Danilov served as the Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.
