On May 25, Indian President Ram Nath Kovind appointed Narendra Modi as prime minister of the country after his Bharatiya Janata Party (Indian People’s Party) won parliamentary elections.

The president also asked Modi to name the future ministers of his government and set a date for taking the oath for a second term. According to DW, Modi is likely to be sworn in on May 30.

After the announcement of the results of the vote, Modi declared that “these elections became a movement of social unity”.

“In general, elections divide, create a distance and create walls. But the elections in 2019 worked to break the walls,” the head of state emphasized.

It is worth noting that Modi has headed the Indian government since May 2014.

As The Journalist reported, almost 500 members of election commissions died in the elections in Indonesia.
