The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that he guaranteed German businessmen independent investments and lack of pressure by law enforcement officers.

According to the presidential press service, the issue was discussed at a meeting of Zelensky with representatives of large and medium-sized businesses in Germany in Berlin. The event was attended by the representatives of the companies with the total portfolio of € 220 billion.

“This is more than two GDPs in Ukraine, and these are about 450 thousand jobs,” said the president of the German-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce Andreas Lear.

The businessmen said they were looking forward to the cooperation development, but it requires better investment climate and Ukraine’s adapting to the European standards.

“The investment climate is our priority. I realize what foreign businesses are afraid of, that is, Ukraine’s law enforcement agencies putting pressure on business, and the courts not protecting it,” stressed the President of Ukraine.

The head of state emphasized the importance of eliminating pressure of law enforcement agencies on entrepreneurs, since development of the national economy was impossible without it.

“As a president, I will guarantee you the independence of investments and that no one will put pressure on you. We strive to be a European country”, added Zelensky.

According to him, it is planned to ensure independence of courts and law enforcement agencies, “e-customs” development and fighting against smuggling.

The head of state also recalled about Ukraine’s cooperation with the IMF, the World Bank and the EBRD.

As The Journalist reported, Zelensky paid an official visit to Berlin.
