President of the European Council Donald Tusk at Pontifical University of John Paul II in Krakow said that Russia under leadership of President Vladimir Putin poses a serious threat to the unity of the European Union.

«Our problem is Russia, which is undermining everything in Europe that it can. I can cite numerous examples to prove that the Russians will stop at nothing to weaken European unity», Tusk said.

According to the head of the European Council, there are «very clear signs of Russian intervention in campaign during Brexit referendum, as well as in conflict of Catalonia’s independence for Madrid», writes Deutsche Welle.

Tusk also cited the example of the poisoning of the former double agent Sergey Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury in the UK and the cyber-attack attributed to Moscow on the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in The Hague.
At the same time, Tusk added that he was «worried» about the results of elections to Latvian parliament. It could be «a turning point for the region — a moment that was planned in Kremlin, and not in Europe».

As reported by the Journalist, during the elections in Latvia, the social network was hacked and Russian propaganda was posted.
