On September 29, the Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has raised the country’s army into a high state of combat readiness in connection with the situation in the north of Kosovo.

The Head of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija within the Serbian government, Marko Đurić, said that the President ordered the chief of the Serbian General Staff, Milan Mojsilović, and Interior Minister Nebojša Stefanović to set the highest level of combat readiness.

According to Đurić, the Kosovo special forces ROSU intruded into an environment center in the village of Zubin Potok, took positions around Gazivoda Lake and seized the local hydroelectric power plant (HPP). All this was done because of the visit of the President Hashim Thaçi to the north province of Kosovo.

According to UNIAN inform agency, earlier a few dozen Kosovo special forces soldiers entered the territory adjacent to the Gazivoda lake, which supplies water to the local HPP. The facility is located on the territory of Kosovo, but at the same time is the part of the Serbian energy system.

It should be noted that in 2008 Kosovo declared independence from Serbia, but Belgrade refused to recognize it. Negotiations between the parties ceased in March 2017.

As The Journalist reported, Serbia is ready to compromise with Albanians for the sake of joining European Union.
