Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko has said that Ukraine allows for the possibility of its withdraw from the Minsk agreements if this process is taking forever. He stated this in an interview with the BBC Ukrainian service.

“Yes, this is possible. If we see that the process is taking forever. This is a very unpopular statement, and, probably, our Western partners will not be happy with it again. However, we do not see Minsk as an end in itself. Our survival as a nation is the goal. And if we see that the Agreements do not work and lead us into endless process, then sooner or later we may decide to quit the Minsk process,” the Foreign Minister said.

Prystaiko noted that the Minsk process was planned for the first year, and continued by previous Ukrainian leadership instead of being honest and saying that it isn’t working and that the search for another solution should begin.

“The sanctions linked to Minsk played a role. There was a whole bunch of related problems. It is a very tough political decision to abandon Minsk,” Prystaiko said.

He also noted that Ukraine will decide on the need of Minsk agreements if the Normandy Four summit will show a lack of progress.

Prystaiko: We not planning meeting between Zelensky and Putin.
