«I withdraw my candidacy as a single opposition candidate in the presidential election. Thus, I remove the curse of the «Kanev Four» from our country, when everyone saw himself first and foremost a Hetman … As a person practicing Judaism, I cannot act as an arbiter of the deepening schism in Orthodoxy. And this is probably the main reason for making such a decision of mine».
This was stated by the people’s deputy of Ukraine and the leader of the political party «For Life» Vadim Rabinovich at a press conference in Kyiv on November 15.
«The duty of the president is to solve complex issues and problems of the country. I would be able to do this as president – I have a program that was created by the best Ukrainian and foreign specialists. I am sure that the key to the world, which Ukraine needs so much, is with our «For Life» party. We know exactly how to quickly and unconditionally stop the war today. And as president, I could do it», said Vadim Rabinovich.
«There is a second equally important question-is the economy. And here I hasten to assure you: only the party «For Life» has a plan how to bring the country out of the crisis. And as president, I would do it», the politician continued.«But there is a third question, and it’s no less, and perhaps more important, is the split of Orthodoxy, the aggravation of which we are witnessing today. And in this matter the president must and must be the arbiter. But I am a person who professes Judaism; therefore I cannot be an arbiter in the religious question. Therefore, I withdraw my candidacy!», the leader of «For Life» party confessed.
Vadim Rabinovich explained that «this decision was not easy, because for the first time in the history of Ukrainian politics, a candidate who really has a presidential rating withdraws his candidacy, and this despite the fact that I absolutely believed in victory, that the single candidate from the southeast and center Ukraine is capable of the second round and is able to win. I believe in it now!».
«I am sure that I took the only correct decision, and today, as a last resort, tomorrow, I will turn to the strategic council of the «Opposition Platform — For Life» with a request to nominate a new candidate for participation in the presidential election. Such a meeting will take place in the near future», Vadim Rabinovich said.
The politician is also sure that today more than ever «our country should try to love the country itself».
«Great Kennedy once said these words: «Think about what you have done for your country». I think that my decision to abandon the struggle for the presidency is a very correct step for the benefit of Ukraine. I am more than ever sure that we can make our country strong!», said the politician.
At the same time, Vadim Rabinovich assured: «I will go first in the list to the parliamentary elections. We will fight for our country, for its benefit and prosperity. And today the best salvation for all of us is to choose those who will come with us in the composition of the «Opposition Platform – For Life». Today is the time to unite, hide their ambitions and begin to save Ukraine!».
