Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov has said that security of citizens along the withdrawal line in Donbas will be ensured by Ukrainian law enforcement agencies and the National Guard.
“Nobody surrenders its territory, nobody surrenders its citizens. The security on the territory which will be left by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, if this happens, will be ensured by the National Guard, as well as by the law enforcement officers, who will be located on this territory,” Razumkov emphasized.
According to the speaker, this is Ukrainian territory and Ukrainian laws will rule on it, as “the law enforcement bodies of the Ukrainian state will monitor compliance with the laws of Ukraine and will ensure security there.”
“This is a normal process. I’m sure that OSCE representatives and, possibly, journalists will join it,” Razumkov said.
Razumkov believes that “we, unfortunately, will not soon be able to get out of the stalemate that we have been observing for several years,” but it will be possible to begin implementing the Minsk agreements in order to return the occupied territories, Ukrinform reports.
