The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov has said that the new bill on the special status of certain areas of Donbas will be developed following a meeting of leaders of the Normandy Four countries together with parliament and society. He stated this on the Freedom of Speech panel show on ICTV.

According to him, other options for developing a bill will be a violation of the promises made to Ukrainians.

“Both the president’s position and the majority’s position in the Verkhovna Rada were as follows: the president, returning from the Normandy summit, together with the parliament and society, will draft this bill. It will be very difficult to do without involving all of these structures. The President spoke about this already. And conducting some kind of ‘backstage’ development of various bills is to violate those promises given to Ukrainian society,” Razumkov said.

He expressed his hope that the Verkhovna Rada will be able to draft a bill on the special status of Donbas during 11 calendar days – between the Normandy summit (December 9) and the last plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada in 2019 (December 20).

As The Journalist reported, German Foreign Minister cancels trip to Donbas.
