Russia can try to use cybertechnology to interfere in the presidential elections in Ukraine, which will be held on March 31, National Intelligence Agency reported.

This was stated in the introductory speech on the presentation of the report "Annual Threat Assessment", which was presented by the Director of National Intelligence, Dan Coats, at the Senate hearing.

“Russia’s attack on Ukrainian naval ships in November is only a recent example of the Kremlin’s willingness to violate international norms in order to force its neighbors and fulfill its goals. We also expect Russia will use cyber-technologies in order to influence the upcoming presidential elections in Ukraine,” Coats emphasized.

It was predicted that Russia would continue to carry out its information wars against democratic countries and use social networks in an attempt to "disunite our societies".

According to Dan Coats, “even when Russia faces a weakening economy, the Kremlin is stepping up its campaign to separate Western political and security institutions and to undermine the post-war international order.”
