The head of the State Tax Service (STS) Serhii Verlanov said that the main task for the department is in changing attitudes towards entrepreneurs.
“The Tax Service should be transparent, it must understand the needs of entrepreneurs and solve their problems within the framework of its authority,” Verlanov said.
According to the STS head, the practice when the tax was used as a punishing body or an authority to provide preferences to certain groups or individuals should be left in the past.
Verlanov also emphasized that the updated Tax Service will be guided by the principles of equality of taxpayers and service.
The State Tax Service will became operational after the completion of the transfer of employees of the State Fiscal Service (SFS) to the territorial STS offices.
“Now it remains to transfer about 30% of workers [SFS – ed.]. We have already done this at the level of the central apparatus. In fact, we are talking about territorial bodies. We should transfer about 9,000 people in a few weeks,” Verlanov said.
According to the head of the Tax Service, after the completion of the SFS workers transfer to the State Tax Administration, the Cabinet of Ministers will have to make a decision on granting the tax collection function to the newly created body.
Also, the SFS will exist until the completion of the formation of the State Customs Service and perform the customs functions.
