The chairman of the Servant of the People Party, Oleksandr Korniyenko, said that about 1,700 candidates [for deputies] and about 90 candidates running for heads of [merged territorial communities] will participate in elections to all MTCs that will take place on December 22 and 29 this year.
“For the first time in our life, our party will participate in local elections, and it will be a test for many local leaders and for deputies to participate in this,” the party leader said.
The head of Servant of the People faction, David Arakhamia, MPs Maksym Buzhansky, Maryana Bezugla, Oleksandr Dubinsky, Evhenia Kravchuk, and Mykola Tishchenko have joined the ranks of Sevant of the People Party during its regular congress.
However, Korniyenko announced the opening of a party hub.
“I inform and invite everyone to the opening of our party hub in Congress and Exhibition Center “Parkovy” on the second floor. Tentatively, the official opening scheduled for mid-December. But the deputies can already use the capabilities of our hub for meetings, for discussions on bills and so on,” Kornyienko said.
The party hub will be “the first unique project of an open party space, where all citizens, everyone can participate in discussions, decision-making, etc.”
Kornyienko also announced a “more thorough examination” of the new party members who will be searched before the local elections. So, the regional teams of the presidential party have already begun to form. The deputy could not yet name the exact number of necessary new members.
To the party’s chairman, it is about 40-50 thousand new candidates, Radio Liberty reports.
“Probably, we will take a more thorough approach to verification, because even the post-primaries mechanism that we introduced in the parliamentary campaign did not work out to the end, and yet our candidates had some reputational risks, especially those who were elected by majority lists. It will be a long process, definitely, but we have enough time for this. And we now have more organizational opportunities, that is, the party will be able to do this more carefully,” he added.
As The Journalist reported, Yelisieiev resigns from Ukraine’s MFA.
