Russian parliament have proposed to the Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg to provide expert testimony on safety and confidentiality of the social network. This is reported by «The Verge».
The source reports that Lawmakers in Russia want Mark Zuckerberg to testify before them, as he has already made statements before the US Congressional committee and the European Parliament.
As the source notes, on May 30 during a session of the upper house of the Russian Parliament, one of the senators proposed summoning Zuckerberg. In response, Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said that she would «issue an order» and that they would «organize his arrival».
The report notes that Russian senators want Zuckerberg to testify on topics such as information security, privacy and the «spread of harmful content».
Recall that In the last year, Facebook has acknowledged a degree of Russian influence on the political situation in the US and on conduction of presidential elections in the United States. Such influence was carried out through the publication of targeted advertising messages bought by Russian groups and accounts linked to a Russian misinformation agency.
