According to forecasts of the Ministry of Finance, Ukraine’s public debt will amount to 68% of GDP by the end of 2020, the press center of the Ministry of Finance reports, citing Minister of Finance Serhii Marchenko, as saying.
According to the minister, now the national debt is USD 85 billion. At the end of 2020, the public debt will be equal to 68% of GDP, and the Ministry of Finance wants to reduce it to 63.4% of GDP next year.
To Serhii Marchenko, this year has become the most critical for Ukraine, creating a risk that the debt will increase slightly. However, Ukraine is gradually emerging from this crisis.
Recall that the draft state budget for 2021 provides for a decrease in the state debt next year to 64.6% of GDP.
